10.5: Read and rip hybrid SACDs System 10.5
After making a clean install of Leopard on my 1GHz 12" PowerBook, I am now able to read the regular redbook CD layer on hybrid SACDs. As has been reported by several users, these discs would previously not even show up in the Finder (or they showed up as an empty CD/DVD etc). It seems like Mac OS X is finally able to recognize these discs, which is useful for anyone who would like to rip the redbook layer on their SACDs!

Odd, I've never had the least bit of trouble reading or ripping hybrid SACDs on Leopard, Tiger, or even Panther, on Intel or PPC machines, tray or slot loading drives. Now if this hint gave me a way to rip the DSD audio off the actual SACD layer and get it into a format iTunes or Quicktime could play with minimal loss, that would be hint-worthy.

Yeah, there's no reason that the standard Redbook CD partition/layer shouldn't have shown up for as long as SACDs have been around. Is there anyone else who has had this problem?

I agree. This hint was misleading.
