10.5: One fix for iTunes not quitting properly Apps
Since upgrading to Leopard, I have noticed that iTunes refused to quit properly with anything short of a Force Quit. Instead, the dock icon remains in the 'hidden application' state.

After some digging, it turns out that the culprit for me was having iMote running. By quitting that, iTunes is finally allowed to quit completely.

[robg adds: The generic version of this hint would be to check any iTunes remote apps or other iTunes plug-ins if you're having troubles getting iTunes to quit.]

I have the opposite problem, sort of, in Tiger. When I quit iTunes, the iMote menu doesn't go away for a minute or too and if I relaunch iTunes during that period iMote doesn't work. It's as if quitting iTunes causing iMote to hang for a while... but then it recovers. Anyone else experiencing this?

Once I removed "sing that iTunes" widget the problem went away. It looks like they need to update the widget to deal with Leopard.

OT but I'm having the same issue with Safari (v3 - 10.5).
Although, I've never installed any plug-ins for Safari...
