10.5: Quicken Scheduler breaks Front Row

I was going to put this in an older hint's comments that dealt with compatibility issues with the Quicken Scheduler, but I thought that now that Front Row is ubiquitous in 10.5, that maybe this deserved its own hint so people would see it.

If you have any scheduled updates in Quicken 2007 (also Quicken 2006, not sure if it was a problem in prior versions), Quicken runs a background process. As noted by the old hint, this process causes various text expansion utilities to break. As it turns out, it also breaks Front Row, which now is installed with every copy of OS X 10.5. When the Quicken Scheduler background process is running, you can launch Front Row with Command-Esc, but then you are stuck there, unable to do anything. No keys work at all after that, not even force quit. I was forced to hard shutdown my machine and reboot to recover.

The fix is to remove all scheduled updates in Quicken, thus causing the background process to be disabled. One can only hope that Intuit will finally fix this in Quicken 2008.
