After install, iPhoto has broken up my rolls into lots and lots of "events." I have been clicking the arrow of each one so I can contract them (a personal preference of mine). What a long process it could have been. I looked for a menu item to do this, but no such luck. As fate would have it, I held down the Option key while clicking on a triangle, and all the events collapsed.

This is also true for Finder list (middle option) View- it however seems to go one level deeper each time you click, unclick, re-click. if you know what i mean...

(Keep holding alt as you repeat the clicks BTW!)

This is true almost everywhere there's something to collapse, open or whatever, yet it always seems worth mentioning in a hint. We probably have just reached a hundred "Hold Option to do stuff to multiple things while clicking" hints on this site.

I'm sorry, but I don't see where you can expand/collapse events in iPhoto? What kind of view are you using? I don't see anything like this...

Never mind. I just figured it out. Go to Photo Library (not Events Library!), then View->Event Titles.

oh good hint! I just spent ages myself doing the same thing

Nice tip. The collapse/expand in iTunes works different. If you want to collapse/expand all playlists folders in iTunes, click Apple+Alt while clicking the folder's arrow. Wish there was something similar for mailboxes in Mail.

You ROCK! Thanks, I never would have thought of that, and of course I started by looking for a menu pick (hoping to have it show me a keyboard equivalent). |
