I installed the newest version of the Proscope HD software today, and when I opened it without the ProScope attached, but with an iSight attached, I realized that it functions perfectly with the iSight. It is pretty decent for capturing still images, movies, and time lapse movies. It also has manual image controls, and it's free!

Use Proscope HD software with iSight cameras
Actually it's ProScope HR (High Resolution) not HD. It works with iSight because the ProScope HR and software are USB Video Class so it works with the native USB video driver in the OS. You can video iChat highly magnified images using the ProScope HR. stills, video and time lapse can be used in the iLife apps because the files are all QT.

It's also quite nice that the software lets you install on a different volume than the system volume. I hate being forced to do that, and I'm glad to have the choice.

I tried it. Cool! Thanks! I will tell friends and family about this; they will like it, too. It's far easier to make a time lapse with this than with iMovie, and you get plenty of options.

Is there a way to make this work with the MacBook built-in iSight?
Use Proscope HD software with iSight cameras
I beta tested a piece of software that allows internal and external iSight cameras to take snapshots, makes movies, record timelapse movies, detect motion (with email alerts), and uses your iSight as a webcam. From the built-in gallery, you can email snapshots or movies, upload photos to Flickr, or export movies to view on a Video iPod, Apple TV or iPhone.
Iris does require that you have Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and an iSight camera (built-in or external). Don't hesitate to visit MildMannered Industries "Iris" webpage: http://www.mildmanneredindustries.com/iris/
