An easier way to enable Front Row on non-supported Macs

I recently viewed -- and was about to begin implementing -- this hint to enable Apple's Front Row media center program on the Mac Pro. After reading through the instructions once, however, I realized that the crux of the fix was to trick Front Row into thinking there was an infrared remote paired with the Mac. The instructions describe hacking a system file for the mouse to trick Front Row.

You can actually trick Front Row by installing the wonderful Remote Buddy application. This 19.99 € shareware app installs a software infrared remote (so to speak) that makes Front Row work with no hacking or modification of system files.

Remote Buddy is a wonderful program with support for using the iPhone as a web-based remote for your newly enabled Front Row.

[robg adds: We covered Remote Buddy in this prior hint, though not its ability to enable Front Row. Come October, of course, those who upgrade to Leopard will get Front Row on any Mac they wish.]
