While this hint explains one way to open iPhone web pages in new links, here's a lower-tech (but easier to implement) solution:

  1. Surf to the page that has the link you want to open in a new window.
  2. Hit the "tabs" (i.e. 'add another page') button in the lower right corner of the browser bar.
  3. Pick New Page.
  4. Hit the Bookmarks button in the browser bar.
  5. Go to the top of the bookmarks list, and pick History.
  6. The top bookmark link is the page you just had open a moment ago. Pick that one, and it's just like you were on the original page. Continue surfing as desired.
Inelegant, I know; possibly ineffective on dynamically-created server pages, but it works for most sites I've tried it on.
