I've just upgraded my Parallels Desktop install to 3.0 and for a while, I had lots of trouble upgrading the drivers. After you install, Parallels Desktop 'automatically' starts the tools upgrade/install, and the menu option only says 'Cancel tools install.'
For me, though, it was doing nothing. It took me a while, but I remembered that I had disabled the autorun behaviour in Windows for CDs. So to move things along, open the explorer and double-click the CD drive. The same applies if you want to run the Compressor.
