Open multiple Gmail accounts at once Web Browsers
I like to have more than one Gmail account open at the same time. As you can't have more than one in the same browser, I use Firefox's ProfileManager flag to manage one profile for each Gmail account. Type in terminal:
/Applications/ -ProfileManager \
The first time you do this, you'll create a new profile, one for each of your Gmail accounts. Launch this command each time you wish to open a new account. The Dock will display multiple Firefox icons, one for each open profile. If you wish, you can check "Remember me on this computer." As Firefox passwords are not managed by Keychain, you can store one for each of your accounts. You can also do this in Safari. Type in terminal:
/Applications/ \
Each time you launch this command, a new instance of Safari will open. You can then login to a different Gmail account in each. If Safari is not your default browser, use a gmail.webloc file instead of a URL:
/Applications/ \
(Just drag your browser's Gmail favicon to the desktop, and then onto your Terminal window). The Dock will display multiple Safari icons, one for each open istance.

Firefox users might also benefit from this. Also, my Gmail accounts are spread across different domains ( + 2 domains under "Google Apps for Your Domain"), so I can keep tabs open for each of them when needed.

Open multiple Gmail accounts at once

This continues to be a good way to deal with sites that prohibit multiple log ons, only now as Firefox continues to be more memory intensive, it's more appropriate as a short term, every once and a while type of bandaid. It's just not practical any longer to have three or four instances of Firefox running , each gobbling up at least 70-80 mb with just Gmail alone loaded. Memory is not shared so looking at 320 megs right out the window for just to deal with Gmail.

More practical solutions are available now - thankfully at least Gmail has kind of come to their senses. You can now add up to I believe it's five additional email accounts, be them GMail or elsewhere, that enables you to send mail from multiple Gmail/etc. accounts but only have to sign in to one to do so. Couple that with either email forwarding or true blue POP Gmail access in the one account, and you've got everything set in one place.

I set my Google Apps domain mail up this way - I have a vanity email address and just have one log in that I use and I am able to send and receive email for some other accounts on that domain.

For people who like the idea of a separate browser for each instance of Gmail and don't have the time for the hassle of setting up consolidating all your accounts to the one log on, or perhaps aren't even dealing with Google at all, there's a fab web-kit based browser that does multiple instances with amazing form - Stainless. They describe this feature as
"parallel sessions, which allow you to log into a site using different credentials in separate tabs at the same time."

They are still in beta at v. 0.7.5 but it's pretty far advanced and very stable and is perfect for using different browser instances to manage multiple log ins.
