Move your Parallels folder to another location

I recently moved to a mobile account on my MacBook Pro and really didn't want my Parallels Virtual Machine files to be re-copied to the server when syncing, since they are so large.

After trying to move the Parallels folder from my ~/Library to /Users/Shared/ and simply creating an alias back to the original location, I found that Parallels thought I was starting a new setup and wasn't recognizing my previous Virtual Machines.

Instead, I used Terminal to create a symbolic link back to my ~/Library:

cd ~/Library
ln -s /Users/Shared/Parallels Parallels

Upon launching Parallels, my Virtual Machines were recognized and they are no longer synced when connecting and syncing my mobile account.

kirkmc adds: It is likely that the alias is not recognized because it is in the /Users/Shared folder, which has weird mojo...
