I discovered a handy feature of TextEdit. Open a new TextEdit document, and try dragging a PDF file into it. You might expect that the document would accept a one-page PDF and display it just as Mail does in an email message. Sure enough, it does. But what if you drag in a multi-page PDF? It works just fine, and the multi-page PDF is embedded as a window with its own scroll bar for scrolling through the pages of the PDF.
So you can assemble any number of PDFs into a single TextEdit document, and each one will have its own scrolling window. It's a great way to keep a bunch of related PDFs together in one place.
[robg adds: Your TextEdit document must be in rich text mode (Format » Make Rich Text) for this to work.]
