10.4: Speed up Aperture by reindexing the database Apps
This AppleScript does for Aperture what this trick does for Mail.app: reindexes the database to improve performance.

I have posted a zipped copy of this script on the Download page at my site for convenience.

[robg adds: I haven't tested this one. Note that we've got an alternative version of the Mail reindexing tip already in the database, so there's no need to submit the above link as a new hint.]

I'm not sure if it really makes much speed difference for me since most of the time Aperture gets bogged down is loading the image files. But then, it might make searching and smart albums faster.

Is there a way to "shrink down" the database?
Maybe this trick will do it but that's my biggest complaint about Apperture.

I have like 125 photos (plus links to iPhotos database, I guess) and my database is over 780 MB...
Even if the photos were 1 MB each, the DB should be way under 800 MB...
