I'm not much of a wallpaper guy when it comes to my desktop, especially because we've seen them all by now. But while I was browsing through the innards of my Google Sketchup application, I realized the textures built into the application would tile quite nicely to spruce things up a bit.
To find the textures, control-click on the Google Sketchup application and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu. Then browse to Contents » Resources » Textures. You can now choose that folder in the Desktop pane of the Desktop & Screen Saver System Preferences panel -- you'll have to do so by dragging and dropping something from the open Finder window into the Open dialog box that appears when you select the Choose Folder option.
Right now, I've got a fake brick desktop that is pretty amusing. I've set the preferences to change it every 30 minutes This turns a feature I never much cared for into something that might be interesting.
