Use a Firefox plug-in to ease QuickTime movie saving Web Browsers
By default, you need QuickTime Pro if you want to save a QuickTime movie embedded in a web page, because the Save options are otherwise grayed out. I found a way in Firefox to help with this: I installed a plug-in named Unplug. This plug-in adds a little green fish to the right side of the address bar.

So when you're viewing your movie in Firefox, click the fish, and a page with all video links will appear on the screen. The one playing is checked with a green marker. Just control-click on it, select the Save to Location menu item, choose a file name and location, and you're done. The media will download to your disk.

It also works with with popular site like YouTube and more.

[robg adds: There are many ways to grab QuickTime movies from various browsers, but this little plug-in makes it about as easy as possible.]

Use a Firefox plug-in to ease QuickTime movie saving

You can always merely view the Page Info (under Tools, or on the render area context menu), and find it under the Media tab. That's particularly easier for me since I have four FF installations in which I'd have to install the plugin (work, home, MB, MB/parallels).

Similar tip for Safari

You can accomplish the same thing by pulling up the Activity window in Safari and double-clicking the name of the file you want. This doesn't always work for Flash, so sometimes I use Tubesock.

Sorry to ask this simple question . . . but . . .
Where does the plugin go? I looked in Application support but can't find a firefox or Mozilla folder.
Thanks, Bodhi

Unfortunately this plugin is not compatible with the latest version of Firefox.
v. 1.5.0.9

Actually, it works just fine for me under the latest version of Firefox, which is 2.0.0.1, not 1.5.0.9...

Perhaps macubergeek meant to say, "The latest good version of Firefox". FF 2 is useless to me until the extensions I've come to love are available for it. :) Don't ask; it's too long a list to share here.
