Here's what I did...
- Grab a modem script that works. I used the script from the above-linked blog entry. Unzip it and put it in /Library/Modem Scripts.
- Set up the connection between the phone and Mac with the Bluetooth System Preferences Panel. In the "Bluetooth Mobile Phone Set Up" wizard, check "Access the Internet with your phone's data connection," and select the GPRS radio option.
- Set up the modem connection in the Network System Preference Panel. Select Bluetooth from the Show drop-down menu. Enter these options in the PPP tab (case sensitive!):
- Service Provider: Cingular
- Account Name: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
- Password: CINGULAR1
- Telephone Number: *99#
- Modem: [name of the modem script from step one]
- Check all four boxes
However, I read good things about taniwha.org.uk's modem scripts. If you find the nokme script a little slow, try these. If you don't connect, try the other telephone number. Also, try switching the PPP Options "Send PPP echo packets" and "Use TCP header compression" on or off.
