10.4: Take an instant photo in Photo Booth Apps
This hint is quite simple, but it's not explicit in Photo Booth.

If you want to take a photo and you're tired of waiting those annoying three seconds before the shot, just hold the Option key when clicking the red button. Alternatively, you can also use the Option-Command-T keyboard shortcut for the task! Pretty simple.

Even when shooting in this instant mode, there is still a delay between two shots -- try shooting several photos using the keyboard shortcut, and you always get the same image. It looks like the delay is caused by the "falling photo" animation. It would be good if someone finds out how to disable that animation.

[robg adds: Since the falling photo looke somewhat like a sheet, I tried using the NSWindowResizeTime trick (as explained in this hint) to speed up the animation. No go.]

"Those annoying three seconds"? If this is what you find annoying, you're doing pretty well in life. Go outside and get some fresh air.

Thanks for the tip. I've been searching for a tip to do this for months now.

@Mikey-San, I'll consider your extreme short-sightedness as an indicator that you're simply a bachelor with no children in your life. This tip is not only handy, but essentially crucial when you have kids under the age of three that won't hold the same great faces for more than 1/2 second, let alone 3 full seconds.

That said, I imagine I'll take advantage of this speed boost occasionally for myself as well. Who says I can't be efficient while having fun?
