Create a TextEdit file of web clippings via script Internet
Mario_Dammann is an AppleScript for your web browser (Camino, Safari or Firefox) that copies selected text along with the URL and title into the same TextEdit file. At the end of the day, you have a collection of all your selections in one text file. Just download the script and place it in your web browser's Scripts folder.

After highlighting sections of web text, select Mario_Dammann from the Scripts menu, and the text will automatically be copied to a TextEdit file.

[robg adds: I have mirrored the source of version 0.9 onto the hints server, in case the original vanishes. I tried this, and it works as described.]

This is handy, but I find it even better to use "New Window Containing Selection" from the Services menu. I created a hot key (I use iKey), and instantly get a TextEdit document filled with my selection. The url needs to be copied manually, though.

Stephan, thanks so much for sharing this. I just tested it with this page, and it worked great.

Rob, your link to the mirrored download appears to be broken or mistaken -- it does not work for me as of Friday; October 20, 2006, 1:34 PM EDT.

Mario_Dammann 0.9 is now available

changes:
the same applescript (one file) works now for camino, safari and firefox.

If you copy multiple texts segments from then same URL the segments are seperated by "... ..." and url and title won't be copied

If TextEdit is closed or no TextEdit window is open Mario_Dammann opens it for you

The script does not work for me. I placed it in the appropriate folder, highlighted some text , selected the script but nothing at all happens. Any idea why ?

sorry i don't know why that happens.
someone else reported an error to. she says:
" Why does it do this after I ...
(1) Select text
(2) Either Command-C, or DONT Command-C (copy or not copy)
(3) Choose Mario_Dammann from menubar app scripts folder.

I use WebKits as well as Safari.

Same for both. Corrupted download? "

I tryed different things but never got any error message. so i can't help.
sorry.
maybe someone else knows.
stephan.

It must be asked:

Who is Mario Dammann, and how did he earn the honor of having this handy script named after him?

Cheers,

Jim
