Change status colors in Activity Monitor Apps
I didn't find a reference to this, so it might be new to you. You don't like the red or green color in the Activiy Monitor graphics? Just click on any of the colors in the legend of the Activity Monitor, and a small color picker window will pop up. You can then change all the colors as you see fit.

[robg adds: This is mentioned in the Activity Monitor help file ("You can change the color of items in the graph by clicking the color box next to each item."), but who reads the help?]

This is a hint? Isn't it obvious that those are clickable color wells? That's one of the the first things I change when setting up a new computer. What's next, a hint that moving the mouse will cause the cursor to magically move on your display? :)

Why...

Why does it make some people feel so good to write "this is a hint"? If a contribution is useful to you, say thank you. If you know it already, good for you, and no comment is necessary. I just find it wrong to dissuade people from posting. Because of negative comments, somebody may not have posted a hint that would be extremely helpful to some of the readers. Just my 2¢, I don't want to start an argument.

Cheers,

Daniel

I'm in complete agreement with dkiechle. No one is impressed that you already knew this and think it's too obvious to bother helping someone else with. Why bother complaining or asking "is it a hint?", when it's already been posted? Just to show off? Everyone who posts such messages just gives the impression of being whiny, selfish or arrogant.

Because macosxhints has a tendency to get filled up with these sort of obvious "hints", which makes searching for real hints harder. This web site shouldn't be a how-to guide for basic UI. That's why I and many others feel the need to at least attempt to police the hints that get posted.

But you're not 'policing'. The hint remains, and it's pointless to complain about it.

I set mine to the same colors as MenuMeters
Authored by: dzurn on Oct 12, '06 02:40:12PM

I have MenuMeters in my Menu Bar and I saw a suggestion to make the graph look like flames. Gets my attention when something is dragging the system down, and it looks neat. I changed my Activity Monitor colors to the same ones.

User Load = red, R 255 G 0 B 0
System Load = yellow, R 255 G 255 B 0
Nice Load = orange, R 255 G 127 B 0

I don't remember where I saw the original suggestion however.

"Isn't it obvious that those are clickable color wells? "

Nope. Not to me, anyway, and probably not to a lot of others.
