Use DragThing with Command-Tab and drag and drop Apps
It's (hopefully) well known that one can Command-Tab in the middle of a drag and drop to select among open applications for the drop target. But if you first switch to DragThing, you can then drop onto any application you've put into a DragThing dock, not just any currently-open app.

Nothing earth-shattering, really, but I've found it to be quite helpful.

[robg adds: This works with the normal dock as well -- dropping an object on a non-running application will launch that application, which will then handle the dropped object as it normally would.]
