Apologies for the simplicity of this hint, but after years of adjusting each new iTunes playlist to a preferred view option (I like Kind for reference), I just noticed that setting the Library's view options (View -> View Options, or Command-J) creates the default template view options for any future playlist.

Set iTunes global view options
That's a big timesaver (and a big forehead slap indeed), but is there any way to set view options for all existing playlists at one go?
Set iTunes global view options
The AppleScript Assimilate View Options re-creates your playlists, excepting Smart Playlists and "special" playlists (Purchased, Podcasts, Party Shuffle), then deletes the old ones so all of the View Options are the same as the main library (taking advantage of the fact that new playlists acquire the library's View Options).
I will attempt to update this script to accomodate the new "Master" Libraries, however, it should work fine on regualr playlists. ---
Set iTunes global view options
Okay, so there's no way to get it to work on Smart Playlists then?
Set iTunes global view options
Ahh, but I think there is. At least with iTunes 7.0.1. If you forego individual view settings for playlist, you can reset all views. Do it like this:
Set iTunes global view options
yes but still the playlists never fit into the itunes window, no matter how big it is. also, it doesnt put the created playlist to cover flow view although my library is set to cover flow. ok just a minor flaw, but annoying! :-( |
