iTunes 7 volume control shortcut for mini windows Apps
For eons now, I have enjoyed being able to simply use the up/down arrow keys to control the volume of iTunes when it was in its mini (tiny window) mode. But now ... with the universe about to implode ... iTunes 7 changes everything! Okay, I'm being a little dramatic, but it had me confused for a few seconds as I mashed the keys and nothing happened.

With iTunes 7, the keyboard shortcut for volume control while iTunes is in mini mode is no longer simply the up/down arrow keys. You now have to use two fingers (or two hands) and hold the Command key and then press the up/down arrow key. Not sure what evil possessed the iTunes team to make a fundamental change like that, given that there is nothing else (that I can tell from mini mode) that could be controlled with just the up/down arrow keys.

I will now return to my corner and sob uncontrollably for the rest of the day given that they also removed the beloved throbbing nuclear burn icon!

[robg adds: This is documented in iTunes' Help -> Keyboard Shortcuts list, but I know a fair number of people (myself included) won't think to look there without prompting. I suspect they made the change so that the shortcut would work in any iTunes window mode, not just the mini mode...]

Robb is right - good or bad, all they did was make iTunes' controls more consistant.

As long as I can hover the mini-controller and change volume using the scrollwheel, I don't care. ;-)

Well it's true that you now need two fingers, but is you're blessed with a trackpad equipped intel laptop you can adjust the volume by dragging two fingers up or down the trackpad (provided this gesture is turned on in System Preferences, which it is by default).

This is an insanely great hidden gem as I'm sure anyone with the appropriate Mac will agree,
