The easy way to do an iTunes Power Search Apps
In iTunes 6, Apple removed the ability to specify a criterion (e.g. title, artist, album) for an iTunes Music Store search before actually performing the search; you could only narrow it down after performing the search, and even then only to Music, TV Shows, Podcasts, etc. They improved it slightly not too long ago (before the Showtime event), by adding a Power Search link to the search results page. The key word there is link.

If you control-click on that link, you can copy the URL for Power Search to your clipboard. From there, you can make a .url, .webloc, or .inetloc file for it; or you can make an HTML file with the link, open the HTML file in your favorite browser, and bookmark the link or drag it to your Dock. For your convenience, here's the link:

itms://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearch

I prefer to use the itms: prefix, so that it goes straight to iTunes rather than opening my browser. Most things in the iTunes Store are hyperlinks, by the way. Try it!

[robg adds: Geeklog does not seem to like the itms: prefix, and strips it out -- meaning that the actual link above is an http: link. If you click it, your browser will open, then switch to the store. The itms: version is much better, but you'll have to create the link by hand.]

Oof, you meant choosing "Search..." in the Store menu. I thought somehow you were thinking of the search box in the main iTunes window. :P

There's also a "Power Search" link found on the upper-right side of the main iTS window in the "QUICK LINKS" box.
