Find the semi-hidden free stuff in the iTunes 7 store Apps
With iTunes 7, it initially looked like Apple once again removed the iTunes Store page that shows all the free stuff in one place. But that's not actually the case; it's just hidden. To find it, go to the iTunes Store using iTunes 7. Make sure you're not in the Music, Movies, or TV Shows subsection pages. Then, click the Turn Just For You Off button at the bottom of the page, as seen at right.

This will indeed turn the Just For You section off on the main page. But a new curiously-capitalized FREE ON iTunes mini scrolly-section will now appear under the EXCLUSIVELY ON iTunes section at the bottom of the page. There's also a See All link associated with this FREE ON iTunes scrolly-section, which shows everything on iTunes that's free in one big page. If you like Just For You and want to keep it on, you can directly access the big free page by using this link:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewRoom?fcId=188575542

Hopefully this will help people find the free stuff on iTunes 7 again.

This may only work/exist on the US Store.

I tried this on the Canadian store, and a "Free On iTunes" section did not show up.

Doesn't work in Danish store
Authored by: jdv on Sep 26, '06 03:36:33PM

Same goes for the Danish store. I couldn't find "Free on iTunes" and the link didn't work.

I changed "My Store" to United States and found the page with free stuff. However when I logged in to "buy" the free stuff, I got an error and was transferred back to the Danish store...

I use this link often:

The numbers at the end must be kind of important ;)

This is old and outdated hence the reason why you see some of has the price instead of free. It only show tv shows not music

The link above is the latest and up to date. it shows all freebies (tv, music, audiobooks)

There is no such link on my iTunes store. I remember a dialog when I first ran version 7. I clicked the 'no thanks' button, figuring that I could re-enable it later. Now I can find no place in the menus, store, or preferences to re-enable it.

However, the http link works fine.

Excellent post. Works great for me in iTunes 7. I had been wondering how to find a list of free stuff since the upgrade. Thanks!

How does one get the "Just for you button?" I don't see it in the main page.

You have to be logged in... Then, it should show up, somewhere at the bottom (center) of the page...

This works for previous versions of iTunes too. I just tried it on iTunes 5 and got the same FREE ON iTunes at the bottom. Unfortunately I can't download any of them since they locked out iTunes 5 from the store :(

I haven't figured out how to bookmark the url in Safari so I put together this simple applescript to link to the url.

tell application "Safari"
open location "http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewRoom?fcId=188575544";
end tell

the open location line wraps. It should be on one line.

Cool tip, but that page seems to show just the featured downloads -- there's a lot more free stuff available. This site that was featured over on TUAW lists many more.

The free stuff at the site you linked have been free for a LONG time, and I suspect that whoever is updating the new iTunes 7 free stuff page in this hint didn't bother to go back and add that older free stuff.

As mentioned in another comment, there is also a free TV shows page, but that's old and not updated anymore. But as far as I can tell, anything that's ever been free since the release of iTunes 7 has showed up on the iTunes 7 link in the hint.
