See more iPod space usage views in iTunes 7 Apps
In iTunes 7's new iPod view (in the DEVICES section), you can click the bar graph with the space information to get additional info, such as time and quantity, as well as the bytes used for each category.

[robg adds: Here's how things look for my newly-arrived 80gb model:

As you can see, you won't get any more info about Other, but there are additional data fields for the other media types. Looks like I've got room for 40 or so of my favorite Disney movies ... or not!]

Actually, I just think the bar graph is quite cool ... but using my old mono iPod, with no movies or photos, it wasn't nearly that interesting :).

You have an iPod from before they were STEREO?! That must be quite a collector's item!

i love the bargraph as much as the next guy (one wonders what took them so long, but i say the same thing aboutu gapless playback, winamp 2.x had it for christ's sake), seriously but the standard for hints on this site is really hitting rock bottom.. clicking on something (the bar graph) now gets a hint?

let's just rename this site to www.macosxobviousness.com (or better yet, fork that off to be seperate)

Last time I checked, we didn't have any method of forcing people to read macosxhints.com; it was a completely voluntary activity. If you don't find the content interesting and/or useful, then the solution is simple: don't visit. As much as I'd love to please everyone all of the time, I long ago realized it's just not possible, and I was losing too much sleep trying to do so. So instead, I just do the best I can do each and every day, and let the chips fall where they may.

Good luck with www.macosxobviousness.com; just remember not to ever publish anything that might be non-obvious, lest someone feel compelled to comment on the lack of obviousness in your hints.

well said.. looking through my previous comments, stuff other people found obvious was stuff i found i didn't realize (though it clearly said it on the dialog box).. well i really like this site and am not gonna stop visiting it cuz it is still quite useful.. i just sometimes wish more esoteric stuff would show up than this..

but i can't wait until this wins hint of the month :)

I have but one vote in that process, and all I'll say is I didn't vote with the majority for last month's winner :).

It looks very nice but I still don't know how I can adjust the data partition. Or is that not possible anymore?

Well said, Rob.
I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of the spirit of this site - it really appeals to, and is a great resource for, all users of OS X. Young and old, novice and expert. There's always something for someone.
Though I'm certainly not an advanced expert when it comes to OS X, I certainly feel very confident navigating my way around, and doing many advanced things. I've been a Mac user for >50% of my life, yet sometimes it's hints like these (graph showing iPod usage) that make me go "hmm... I never would have thought to click there... what a great idea".
So keep up the good (great!) work. There's an old saying in Geology: "Whoever dies with the most rocks wins". Here, just substitute 'rocks' with 'hints'! :-)

I liked the hint.

And also I use my Macs for six years now for me it was not obvious. It would have been obvious if there would be a button or something to toggle the view.
