Get album artwork for selected songs in iTunes 7 Apps
In the new iTunes, if you use the Advanced -> Get Album Artwork menu item, it will go through your entire library of missing artwork -- every time you select it.

So if you just want one song or one CD, or a selection of tunes, do it this way. Make your selection from the song list (using Shift and/or Command to select multiple tracks), then Control-click over that selection and use the contextual menu's Get Album Artwork entry. When done in this manner, only the selected songs will be updated.

Is there a way of searching your library (I have over 7,000 songs) to discover those which don't have artwork?

Not sure it will work with iTunes 7, but a great script to do what you want.

The script seems to have problems with iTunes 7 in that it picks tracks which already have art work on a seemingly random basis - some tracks on an album but not all, for example. Developer informed.

I don't think you need to select each track on an album. If you select a single track and get album artwork, iTunes will automatically link the artwork to all tracks with the same artist/album name. The artwork is not stored in individual music files. iTunes manages which artwork goes with which album.

I haven't tried this in iTunes 7 yet. Are you sure? That goes against how iTunes has stored artwork for years - inside the files themselves!

That is correct. Per post on Macintouch the Album Cover Artwork is stored in [iTunes Music folder location]/Album Artwork/Download/.

Songs themselves can still contain artwork as before, but that is different than the Album Cover Artwork.

This is funny...

What's funny to me is that this is the way that I did it by default... I guess I'm not much of a "menu bar" guy - but the thought never even occurred to me to look for anything in the menu bar. I just selected my entire library, right-clicked, and said "Get Album Art"

Judging from the response, I see others didn't do things the same way I did.

You obviously do not use a one-button mouse.

I was wodering if there is any way to make use of this feature (or just of the cover-grapping in general) without having an itunes-store account... Would be glad is someone told me.

I'm not sure I want Apple to have a record of every song that I keep on my computer. What will they do with this information?
