Fix broken AirTunes in iTunes 7 Apps
Are you having issues with AirTunes in iTunes 7? Can you see the speakers listed in iTunes and select them, but then the selection reverts to Computer? If so, then you'll be interested in the solution presented in this thread in the Apple Discussions.

It turns out that if you've disabled IPv6 (it's enabled by default) in the Network System Preferences panel, then AirTunes will break in this manner in iTunes 7. To fix it, open Network, click on Configure IPv6, and set the Configure IPv6 pop-up menu to Automatically.

Remember that there is another hint on this site for those who have experienced streaming problems and sound breakup on AirTunes. The solution to that was to disable IPv6.

Hence, with iTunes 7.0 you must enable it to use AirTunes but may experience intermittent streaming issues when using it.

In my case, AirTunes was broken and "Configure IPv6" already was set to "Automatically." But toggling it by choosing "Off," "Apply Changes," then "Automatically" again fixed it.

Although "Configure IPv6" had been set to "Automatically," I noticed that there was no IPv6 address displayed until after toggling it as described above. I assume that is significant.

I found that simply turning IPv6 off, I resolved the streaming issue with AirTunes.

Rather strange that I didn't have to enable IPv6. Wondering if it's because my APE is not being used as a router, but solely as a device on my network to which I stream my music.

I know it's already being addressed above, but Apple did publish a Knowledge Base article addressing this. Knowledge Base Article
