Eliminate the page title region from blank iWeb pages Apps
The "blank" templates in iWeb are not completely blank -- there is a page-title/navigation zone at the top, even if you select not to have any Apple-generated navigation on the page. This zone grows/shrinks to accommodate its contents. If you turn on View: Show Layout, the bottom of this zone (if it has contents) is represented by a gray line in the page background. If you drag into the zone, it highlights with a blue border. This would be fairly academic, except that objects with links attached (except Apple's) do not function (as links) when in this zone.

Unfortunately, you have to use a non-blank template to be rid of this zone, because the zone 'needs' to contain its special non-deletable Page Title text area in order to be manipulable. So to use this tip, you have to start with a non-blank template in order to create a blank one.

If you attempt to drag an object out of the zone, the zone will simply expand to encompass the new object position, which can drive you crazy. For some reason, pasted objects often end up in this zone, and copied objects sometimes appear to carry 'membership' in this zone with them, causing mysterious behavior later. But if you command-click an object, hold the click until the object's dropshadow becomes more emphatic, and then drag the object, it will blithely sail out of the zone unencumbered, and acquire 'membership' in whatever zone you drop it in.

Once you have the title zone depopulated of everything other than the permanent (gray handles) Page Title text block, resize that block to its minimum, and drag it to the top of the page -- the zone will resize to fit. With the block still selected, use the up-arrow to scroll it upwards until the zone border stops moving because it has reached the top of the page. Leave a smidgen of the Page Title text block's handles visible and you will be able to reconstitute the zone if you want to.

This command-click-wait-drag gesture can also sometimes repair a linked object that iWeb has decided is non-functional -- apparently you can get objects that are internally tagged as belonging to Apple's private object layers, but command-click-wait-dragging them a smidgen moves them to the current layer.

If you happen to drag the non-deletable title text block out of the title zone, the title zone will expand to about an inch tall and can only be shrunk down by dragging the title text block back inside. To identify which block is the title block, pause the cursor over it and wait for the ToolTip.

The command-click-wait-drag gesture is also used in Apple's Interface Builder for a similar purpose -- to drag a view 'out' of its parent view or 'into' another view.

[robg adds: I'm not sure I completely understand this hint, as I don't use iWeb. Hopefully it makes more sense to the iWeb users out there; I wasn't able to contact the anonymous author for clarification.]
