Apparently Apple has recently expanded the list of battery serial numbers that are eligible for replacement, so you might want to check the site again to see if you qualify now. I didn't originally, but as of yesterday, I'm getting a new battery.

Re-check recalled battery serial numbers
What is the source of this? Before I recheck dozens of batteries, I would like confirmation of this.
Re-check recalled battery serial numbers
I can confirm this (and made an account just to do so).
Re-check recalled battery serial numbers
When the recall was first announced Apple had problems with the web page to request a replacement battery. It took them until nearly late evening the day of the announcement to fix those problems. Many people were getting the errors you were seeing (including me) and some even called Apple. When they did call Apple they were told of the problems with website, when they would be fixed and to try again later.

Thanks for the post! I checked my battery the day the recall was announced. No dice! Clicked on the link in todays post and I'm getting a new battery shipped on out to me. Thanks for passing along the information.
Re-check recalled battery serial numbers
I had checked my batteries when the announcement was first made. Both batteries were in the range on Apple's recall page, but only one was accepted. After reading this hint, I tried again on my other battery and it was accepted.

Amazing! After seeing this, I put in the numbers from my two-plus year old 15-inch PowerBook, and sure enough, it's getting a new battery.

Keep Checking,
I checked the week before I saw this hint and then after. I ran in to the no match wrong numbers.. issue But yesterday my batteries came up as valid. - one of them even came up as already being submitted, again I put that down to the site being screwy. I called apple and they sorted it out , the first guy I spoke to was not much help, but the second guy was a trooper, even called me back to save my phone bill as it was taking longer than he expected. ---

I bought a replacement battery for my Apple laptop about a month ago from http://www.laptopsforless.com/laptopbattery/apple-battery and it works great. Is there any reason to think that a replacement Apple laptop battery would be any less reliable than the manufacturers? My concern is the laptop battery fire risk; would this be a risk with a replacement battery?
