The home and end keys don't actually select the first or last file. This moves the selection to the top or to the bottom which is useful if you use other keyboard shortcuts to navigate through the filesystem

thanks to your hint i finallt found also apple+up arrow goes out of the folder and apple+down arrow goes into the folder - nnnnice :)

If you are willing to use the mouse as well, I suggest clicking on the file you want to deselect while pressing the "shift" key. The other items will remain selected, eg your files 4 to 6.
