Set PDFs to auto-scale in Preview Apps
Well, *I* didn't know about this.

I've long been frustrated with Preview.app's tendency to show PDFs at unpredictable scales, usually zoomed in way too much. Well, I finally checked the preferences and under the PDF tab, you can set PDFs to auto-scale. So hopefully there'll be no more need to click the Zoom Out several times before a page becomes readable.

[robg adds: Yes, it's a Preferences hint. However, I asked a few folks about it, and none had known this setting was there, so I chose to run it...]

Thank you! This one was annoying me for the last week or two, and I didn't think to check the prefs...

is there a way to make it works also on safari? the "preview pdf plugin" doesn't follow these preferences.

While Preview for Panther (10.3.9) doesn't feature autoscaling, this hint led me to see what could be done to avoid having to click zoom several times to make documents readable. Preview (2.1.0 (v211)) has the preference 'Scale width to fit display', which works very nicely.
