How to get Now Up-To-Date calendars onto phones Apps
I followed some advice from this hint to sync my Motorola v710 phone. I use Now Up-To-Date, and wanted to sync the calendar file to my v710 (CDMA) and v551 (GSM) Motorola phones. The latest version of Now Up-to-Date (v5.2) allows syncing only to Palm devices, and moreover, does not allow exporting the calendar in any formats that can be read by iCal.

So here's the workaround I used, which makes use of the free Palm Desktop (v. 4.2):
  1. Export your calendar as a text file from Now Up-To-Date with Export Template 'Calendar Archive' and the following settings:
    • Item 1: Date
    • Item 2: Start Time
    • Item 3: End time
    • Item 4: Title
    • Items 5-10: "None"
  2. Import your calendar into Palm Desktop v. 4.2 with these settings:
    • Fields: Now-Up-To-Date
    • Delimeters: Tab & Return
  3. Export your calendar from Palm Desktop in vCal format.
  4. Use iSync to upload the calendar to the Motorola phones.
It's a bit of work, but at least I now have calendars on my phones.

Of course, this is not a true sync, in that the data is only synced one way. Still it's a nice hint for getting your appointments on to your phone.

I've found Palm Desktop handy to have around because it imports and exports more calendar formats than the other calendars I mess around with (iCal, Oracle Calendar, NUTD).

I'm really disappointed in Now's lack of support for iCal and Sync services. If this is THE calendar solution for Mac there is no excuse for not supporting Mac technologies.
