Try a low CPU usage alternative to folder actions

Tiger only hintI had a few folder actions set up, and noticed that the System Events process was eating up to 30% of my CPU. I came across Proxi, and not only have I been able to configure message and audio alerts for certain folders, I have been able to automate folders in ways I wasn't able to with Automator (though, in truth, I've only tinkered with Automator briefly).

The program is being promoted as an aid for use with Griffin devices, but I have found it incredibly useful without actually owning any of them. It's still in early beta, but I've had no problems with it, and am finally able to have folder actions, like alerts, with minimal CPU usage.

[robg adds: I haven't tried Proxi yet, but it does look promising, so it's been downloaded an placed on the 'to look at' list.]
