10.4: Update WindowsXP with SP2 for Boot Camp System 10.4
Tiger only hintI just tried installing Windows on my Intel Mac last night, but had some driver issues. It turns out it was because I had on old install disc of XP that didn't include any service packs -- and SP2 is required for the Mac to run Windows.

So what to do? Slipstream SP2 into my install disc. This thread at Apple Discussions explains how to add SP2 to your older XP install disc, so you can install it on your Intel Mac.

[robg adds: Yes, I know we need a new category (or categories) to cover hints such as this one, along with Intel Macs in general. Coming soon...]

Since SP2, I've used the guide found at the site below to build all of my Slipstream Discs:

It would be nice if all the information was posted on macosxhints. External sites have a habit of changing.

Slip streaming is a fairly complex process - to add it permanently the MacOSXHints, within a hint, would require an exhaustive write/re-write of this process when there are already tons of sites out there offering the information. If the offered links go dead, Google is your friend, keywords: Windows XP SP2 Slipstream.

That said, the link offered in this hint, which points to an Apple Discussions thread, is somewhat pointless as the thread doesn't contain the slipstreaming how-to, but rather a repeat of the this hints information and another link to a slipstreaming tutorial.

Here is that link for those who prefer to skip the Apple Discussions thread altogether and go straight to the slipstreaming tutorial:

nlite

I would HIGHLY recommend nlite for slipstreaming. Combine that with Ryan VM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack you'll end up with VERY little left to update. Also, there are a lot fo good instructions and the best forums for this on http://msfn.org/. My XP disc integrates Service Pack 2, all of the updates released afterwards, .NET 1.1 & 2.0, WMP 10, Quicktime 7.0.4, iTunes, SpyBot, and Sun's latest Java, and it all fits on one CD-R! Makes me with the author of Slipy would release an update, or for someone to write something similar.
