Stream eyeTV programs to remote computers Apps
If you use eyeTV, have more than one computer, and find it annoying moving the receiver box around to whichever computer you're using, then I found a good solution.

cyTV is a great free program which allows you to stream eyeTV footage to any computer Windows, Mac or Linux. It simply streams accross a network, or accross the internet, so the feed can be seen on the remote comupters simply by opening the network location of the "server" computer with VLC (or probably any other program which can stream video).

I have tested this on both Windows and Mac, and both offer the ability to change channels from the "client" computers, or the ability to block this on the "server." I have not tested the ability to stream over the internet but see no reason why this wouldn't work.

Also rather than typing in the IP of the "server" into VLC every time, simply save the stream as a playlist (after which you probably need to set Finder to open the file in VLC not iTunes), then you can have a file wherever you like which quickly opens the stream. (This may be obvious to some users of VLC, but this did not occur to me straight away.)

Wow, this is great! Since I consireded to buy a TV solution and because I don't like cables, I'm very happy to hear about this easy way to stream TV over my network. But could you tell me something about the image quality? I once had a TV tuner card in my old wintel box which had a very noisy image. I think this was because the screen resolution was just so high, that every little error was really good visible. How about this eyeTV thing?

if you watch standard broadcasts on your monitor full-screen, it's not going to look great because of the resolution. you can do HD via the eyeTV 500 if that's your cup of tea.

also, this should work on intel macs since there is an x86 beta build of VLC now...

in my opinion the quality of eyeTV is excellent. as long as you have decent digital signal in your area (and use a proper aerial not the bundled toothpick) it should work fine. here is a screenshot just as an example:
