This Apple note states that ARD admin ("Remote Desktop.app") does not work on Intel Macs. A solution has been circulated on several admin lists, however:
After removing ARD client components from the admin computer and restarting, Remote Desktop.app will repair itself, quit, then if you relaunch it, most features (including viewing and controlling) seem to work fine. The minimum that needs to be removed is ARDAgent.app from /System -> Library -> CoreServices -> RemoteManagement.
A more complete list to remove is reported by some as:
- /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/RemoteDesktop.menu
- /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/
- /System/Library/PreferencePanes/ARDPref.prefPane
- /System/Library/StartupItems/RemoteDesktopAgent/
WARNING
You need to be very careful trying to get this to work.
1) DO NOT DELETE /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement You need the SPECIAL version of ARDAgent that comes with the intel mac.
2) Set ARDAgent to use roseta. (get info on the file) /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app
