Anyone who uses both Sft and Acid Search will probably have run into problems with duplicated menus etc. As of yet, there doesn't appear to be any official fix for the problem, but I have been able to workaround the problem using the following steps:

Uninstall both Saft and Acid Search.
Delete the com.apple.safari.plist file (Saft stores some preferences there).
Install Saft, delete all search engine shortcuts.
Install Acid Search.

Now I don't have any problems, and Acid Search works perfectly. I'm not sure why you need to uninstall Saft first, maybe it was something wrong on my computer. However, when I just tried to delete the search engine shortcuts immediately, it broke the search facility completely -- so badly so that I couldn't use any search engine.

This really is too funny!!! In the past week I've been emailing both devs in regards to this annoyance. This seemed to have worked, I went through it just as you stated; the only extra step you should add is to export your AD-Blocker rules, because once you delete the com.apple.Safari.plist it defaults Saft's AD-Blocker.

because once you delete the com.apple.Safari.plist it defaults Saft's AD-Blocker

... and all of Safari's preferences so it's wise to make note of any non-default settings before deleting that plist. Other plugins (e.g. PithHelmet and Sogudi) also store preferences there.

Anyone aware of technical reasons why these plugins share Safari's preference file instead of using their own?

And there was I slowly going crazy thinking I was the only one with this issue.

Haven't tried the hint yet but thanks for posting it. It seems every few weeks I have to delete and then reconfigure my Safari preferences so I've gotta work up the patience to do it one more time.

One thing that occasionally appears to remove the AcidSearch double menu entries is by simply opening and closing its preferences window, though it isn't long before it is FUBAR again.

Shame. Two apps I really cannot live without, but like milk and beer, they don't mix well.
