After installing Tiger, I noticed that my Dell 2405 looked washed out. I went to the Display Preference Plane and found that the Color Profile had been reset to Generic. I tried to put it to my calibrated profile, but it would not 'stick'. Also attempting to create a new profile failed stating that the 'Factory' profile was missing ... sure enough, it was not in the profile list.
I looked in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/ and found two files:
DELL 2405FPW Calibrated-2B284C50.icc
DELL 2405FPW-2B284C50.icc
Compared to the same files on my old 10.3.9 install, the second one had a different size. Replacing the Tiger version with the Pather one fixed the problem.
I am far from sure that Tiger was the culprit... the date stamp on the corrupted file was just a few hours old... but this may help someone with a similar problem.
