External Bluetooth adapter and iPod sync errors System
I couldn't get my 4G iPod to sync, because I kept getting read/write errors after a few minutes of copying files to the iPod. I was convinced my iPod's hard drive was dying. I tried both a FireWire and a USB cable to connect the iPod to my Mac, but no go.

It turns out that wasn't the case at all. My D-Link USB Bluetooth adapter was the problem. As soon as I unplugged the Bluetooth adapter, I was able to sync my iPod again.

[robg adds: I haven't heard of anything like this; I have had iPod sync issues caused by my iSight camera, but never my Bluetooth adapter...]

I have more issues with USB. I have a shuffle that refuses to sync over a hub. I wish they stuck with 1394.

I had the same problems.

Adding a USB2.0 card to my machine, and using a USB 2.0 hub solved it nicely. (I had them in an unused Windows machine that I could steal from)

Not a great solution, but hey... my Shuffle works now

I thought my iPod had died - kept getting 'cannot read or write to disk' errors when I tried to synch over USB, It turns out that the tip on the Apple site - use another USB port - fixed the problem. And, when I went back to the original port later, the problem di not reoccur. I have no idea why this could / should happen, but it works!
