Scroll pages in Firefox via the mouse wheel button Apps
This may or may not be new, but I just stumbled upon it. If you are on a web page that requires scrolling to see the whole page, you can press and hold the mouse wheel button (assuming you have a mouse with a mouse wheel button), and a little icon will appear in the center of the screen with up and down arrows (as seen at right).

Now you can move the page up and down (or side to side) simply by moving the mouse itself instead of the mouse wheel.

[robg adds: This will only work if you don't have your center button programmed to do something else in your mouse's software.]

At least on my mouse, one just needs to click the wheel-button (not press and hold) to activate this mode, and click it again to turn it off.

Ah, so it behaves just like the Windows version then.

Hadn't noticed this before because I have my scroll wheel button mapped to "exposé current app", but opt+wheel click (or indeed any other modifier does the trick).

Another scroll-wheel thing I find extremely useful - clicking on a link with the scroll-wheel opens that link in a new tab (ie it's the equivalent of a command-click)

I also have this type of functionality in my setup. But, I prefer to have my tabs open in the background. When I'm searching for something obscure, which seems to be the case all the time, I do a search and then wheel-click the links that appear to apply. That way I stay on the search page and do not lose my place while reading.
