10.4: A quick look at Rosetta memory requirements

I did some simple testing of the memory needed to run applications under Rosetta versus being run as a native binary. Follow the previous link to my website for the full details but in short applications running under Rosetta can take anywhere from 1.5 to 3.8 times the memory of native/Universal Binary applications.

So the tip is ... if you're planning on getting a new Intel Mac, and want to run applications under Rosetta, make sure you load the machine up with RAM -- even more so than normal, it seems.
