Enable access to /Volumes in Front Row

I read a hint here last week about Front Row and aliases, and how you can access an external drive in the movies section of Front Row this way. The problem with that solution is that it only works if you always want to access the same drive.
I posted a comment to that hint about what I did to have access to any volume I had in my external DVD drive, regardless of what the disc was. If you have a lot of movies backed up on tons of DVDs like I do, you might find that useful.
Given that a reader mailed me to tell me it was useful, I'm giving the hint here for publication on its own. Here's what I did :
- I made invisible files visible with Tinker Tool (you can, of course, do this with whatever tool you want).
- I then made an alias of /Volumes in ~/Movies, simply by dragging the Volumes folder while holding Command and Option (Alt).
- I then made all the invisible files invisible again. The alias stays visible.
After that, in the movies section of Front Row, the Volumes folder was listed, allowing me to choose any inserted DVD. Note that someone tried to make a UNIX alias, and it didn't work. You have to make it as stated. So there's a solution to access your DVD drive content (and everything else) from Front Row.
[robg adds: An easier way to make the Volumes folder visible is to hit Shift-Command-G (Go: Go to Folder) in the Finder, then enter /Volumes and press Return. The Volumes folder will appear slightly ghosted, but you can still Command-Option drag it to make an alias.]
