.Mac now has a friendly web-based UI for access to iDisk -- there's an iDisk button on your .Mac account's homepage. But if you'd like to get there more easily (via your own bookmark, for instance), here's the direct URL:

http://idisk.mac.com/your_.Mac_ID/?view=web

Replace your_.Mac_ID with your .Mac username; leave off the "@mac.com" portion. The iDisk interface is invoked via a JavaScrpt link on the iDisk button, and it may not be super obvious that the above is the URL needed. A simple tip, but hopefully one that saves you some time.

Two things worth notiing: its probably a better idea to access this link via https to secure the login. Also, the page seems to have a browser check in place so it won't accept Camino. I encourage people to lodge a complaint about this second obstacle as there's no link to at least allow an unsupported browser to attempt to load the page.

So lie... ;-)

In the Camino address bar type in about:config.

Search for "user" and change

general.useragent.vendor to Firefox

and

general.useragent.vendorSub to 1.5

When I change things like this I always grab a shift-command-4 screenshot of the previous setting so I can always go back to the original setting.

Camino seems a little happier...

It's what iDisk asks for so give it what it wants. :-)

When general.useragent.vendorSub is set to 1.5 I always have the status bar message "loading" present.

It might if it was a little faster.

Hmm, before posting this I went back to it and it's now considerably faster. When I first logged in it was taking 30 seconds to recognize any change, like viewing a folder's contents.

If you are a .Mac groups user then you can access the group iDisk web interface at:

http://idisk.mac.com/groups.GroupName?view=web&=en

Where

GroupName

is of course your group name.
