This will now allow your videos to show up in iTunes and the iPod in the right category. Videos bought from iTunes Music Store come with the Video Kind locked, so you can not change it.

Set the proper 'kind' for TV shows in iTunes 6.0.2
Jan 18, '06 05:46:37AM • Contributed by: digiprod
The new iTunes release 6.02 has yet another new improved feature. You can now adjust the Video Kind pop-up (located in the Get Info window, on the Option tab) to include TV Shows. Before this release, you were only allowed to change the value to either Movie or Music Video. Only TV shows bought from iTunes Music Store came with the Video Kind set to TV Shows.

Set the proper 'kind' for TV shows in iTunes 6.0.2
While you can set the Video Kind tag in iTunes 6.0.2, you can not set tags such as Episode Number or other tags available for TV Shows. However you can use Lostify to change those tags. It also allows you to make those changes on episodes purchased from the iTMS. This program is a GUI for the open source AtomicParsley project.

I was just about to inform about Lostify too. Moving on then.
Set the proper 'kind' for TV shows in iTunes 6.0.2
I tried using this feature, and it works fine in iTunes, however my 60 GB vPod even with the 1.1 (very buggy) firmware completely ignores it. Videos I have set as TV Shows do *not* show up in the TV Shows category on my vPod. Indeed they don't show up in "Movies" or "Music Videos" either! That means that if you don't specifically put them in a playlist, you can't access them at all! Doh!

Have you tried using Lostify to set the other options that iTunes still doesn't allow natively? I haven't yet got a video iPod but I'd like to know that when I do I will be able to watch the dozens of televisoin shows I've already optimized for a video iPod.

Apparently, when you set the kind in 6.0.2, it only modifies the iTunes database, not the file itself. |
