Easily create web views in Keynote via drag and drop Apps
I just noticed that if you drag a URL proxy from Safari (and other browsers, probably) into a Keynote document, you get an inline web view to the site rather than a hyperlink -- i.e. the same result as if you'd used Insert: Web View. Very cool.

[robg adds: I tested this with Camino 1.0b1, Firefox 1.5, OmniWeb 5.1, Opera 8.5.1, and Safari 2.0.2, and it works from all of them, except for Firefox. Dragged URLs from Firefox only result in a link in Keynote.]

Just a brief test with Camino reveals that if you drop a URL on a text area, you get a link, but if you drop it on the background, you get a graphic area that fills with the webpage. The entire webpage is included in the graphic, but the viewing area of the page adjusts if you drag the side or corner handles. Very cool.

I always appreciate small but useful interoperability hints like this that work with most other browsers on OS X "except for Firefox" to remind me why I don't seriously consider using Firefox as my primary browser. :-)

What is the difference between a URL and a URL proxy? If I drag a URL into Keynote I just see the URL in a different font.

If I insert > webview I only see what is set as my home page so this does not work so well for me either.

I think I found out the answer or if not a work around:

1. Drag link to desktop.
2. Drag link from desktop into keynote.

It still displays in a constrained size but I expect that's in my keynote preference settings.
