holiday announcement message here

In all seriousness, I hope all of you have a happy and joyous holiday season with your friends and families, whether that means Christmas, Chanukah, or just "the last week or December." We're back home for a week, visiting both our families with our now very-talkative and inquisitive 2.5 year old daughter. Hectic, of course, but very nice to get to see everyone again, as it's been two years since the last visit.

Due to the holiday, macosxhints.com will not be updated on Monday, the 26th. Regular updates return on Tuesday the 27th, then we'll be off again on Monday the 2nd of January. Regular updates for the remainder of that week resume on Tuesday the 3rd. After that, of course, we reach Monday, the 9th of January, which is Macworld Expo week! I'll be posting updates each day that week, hopefully in the morning as usual.

Read on to see my schedule during the Expo, in case you want to stop by and say hello -- I always enjoy talking to the people who have really made macosxhints.com the amazingly useful resource that it has become.

For those of you who will be at the show, here's where you can catch me:
  • Wed Jan 11, 1:00pm - 1:45pm
Macworld Magazine booth #807. I'll be presenting a few of my favorite iPhoto tips and tricks during Kelly Turner's Digital Photography presentation.

  • Thu Jan 11, 9:30am - 10:30am
MacBrainiac Challenge, location TBA. As described on the Keynotes page, this is "...an entertaining presentation of OS X, Mac and other geek trivia!" I participated for the first time in Boston this summer, and it was quite fun--it's set up as a quiz show, with a variety of interesting (and sometimes very obscure!) questions.

  • Thu Jan 11, 11:00am - 12:15pm
Basically immediately after the MacBrainiac challenge, it's time for my Best of Mac OS X Hints presentation (location TBA). This session is a collection of my favorite hints and add-on programs for Mac OS X.

  • Fri Jan 12, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Macworld Magazine booth #807. I'll be presenting another version of my favorite tips and tricks from macosxhints.com. Hopefully there won't be too much carryover from the prior day's presentation, though I think that a couple of my all-time-fave tips will probably appear in both sessions.
The Macworld booth presentations, since they're on the show floor, will be free for anyone with an exhibits pass. The other two sessions will require purchase of some sort of conference pass -- you'll have to visit the Expo pages to find out which one you'd need to purchase, as I'm unclear on how that bit all works!

Unfortunately, my schedule this year precludes another macosxhints.com reader get-together, but I hope to repeat the event at the 2007 show, as we had a lot of fun last year.

I hope everyone has a safe, fun, and wonderful holiday, and a joyous new year...

-rob.

"Chirstmas" is a FEDERAL HOLIDAY like Thanksgiving, July 4th, and Labor Day.

We say Happy Thanksgiving, Happy July 4th, Have a Happy Labor Day, Happy Easter, Happy Mother's Day, Happy President's Day.

Merry Christmas is just more of the same. Saying it has nothing to do with religious tolerance or anything else. If that were the case, we would all be intellectually honest about it and acknowledge Kanzaa. Blacks, African Americans represent over 20% of the country. Jews: 1.3 to 2.3%.
