10.4: Toast 7.0.1 and iTunes 6.0.1 after 10.4.3 upgrade Apps
Tiger only hintI had problems burning discs (audio, data, movies) after upgrading to 10.4.3. I thought of changing the write speed to 8x and 2x, and it worked -- but sometimes I still got laser calibration or media errors. I tried using different kinds of DVD+-R/CDR, but they all still failed.

So I decided to re-apply the 10.4.3 combo update, and everthing is now back to normal. My write speed is set to Maximum Possible, and I haven't seen any more errors.

Same problem for me but with Toast 6.x.x

I hope this will fix it... I already lost "zillions" of CDs and DVDs...

Didn't fix mine (Toast 6)

I did the combo update (again), and I'm still getting media errors. I figured my drive was just dying, but that's strange that mine happened right after I updated to 10.4.3 as well...

If anyone has any other tips to fix it (other than "your drive is broken"), I'd be very thankful.

I installed the combo update and the result is the same. I can burn a DVD (Toast 7.0.1 or Disk Utility).
For information, my system is a eMac G4 and my DVD is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D rev. A707. I tested 2 different DVD-R (Fujifilm 8X and Princo 8X) and the result is a crash afther the burning with Fujifilm and Medium Error 0x73, 0x03 with Princo.

after i've reinstalled my osx and did not install cocktail 3.6.5 i never experienced the laser calibration error anymore. i just usually burn at 8x-16x using Toast 7.0.1 and iTunes is burning well.

i just manually (if necessary) do the sudo periodic (daily, weekly and monthly), restart and do disk repair.

for those having problems, have you ran and got cocktail and/or onyx?

I'm having the same issue - getting stalled burns on DVD-R's, DVD+R DL, etc. Every once in awhile one will burn successfully, but I'm making a ton of coasters. I'm gonna try installing that combo update again and see if it works. I'll post any progress I make.

As silly as it sounds, have you flashed the P-RAM, reset the NVRAM, and repaired permissions after installing the 10.4.3 update?

pb 17 1.67ghz 10.4.3 with cocktail and onyx
and same media errors as reported, EVEN AFTER FRESH COMBO UPDATE.
is cocktail, onyx at fault ? so how ? always had both and no panasonic superdrive probs
pb 17 1ghz 10.4.3 with cocktail and onyx but Toast 6
no problems !

isn't it therefore related to the panasonic UJ-835 / 10.4.3 / Toast 7 combination

Same problem here! The medium, I have used, has worked many times before.

Burn error: 0x8002006D

After deleting the PRAM everything works fine again. No burn errors anymore! I don't know why this suddenly happens!

I encountered these issues at one point or another after updating. So I downloaded the Combo Updater and when I try to run it I get an error and it asks me to try again???

While I have not had any bad burns (Yet) I have had a problem with iTunes burning extremely slow. Estimate maybe a 4x - 8x CD burn where I use to get around 40x burns. Have not tested the new Toast yet for DVD burn but I am getting the same burn problem with it like iTunes for CD's.
Have installed the combo update with no changes in burn speeds.
