Use the Verizon Nokia 6256i phone with OS X

The Nokia 6256i is the only plain phone in Verizon's arsenal, besides the Motorola e815, which supports Bluetooth. And the e815 requires a PC, a data cable, and low-level hacking to enable crucial Bluetooth features which Verizon has disabled. This leaves the Nokia as the only uncrippled Bluetooth phone Verizon sells (and a nice one it is too).

But the Nokia is a "Series 40" phone, and iSync does not presently support this series (even though it's Nokia's most popular!). However, a program called PhoneDirector, with a responsive software developer, works quite well with the Nokia, providing sync facilities for iCal and Address Book, along with a variety of other features. The Nokia also works flawlessly with Object Push to upload and download arbitrary files (wallpapers, ringtones) from the Mac.

I have put together a web page discussing issues hooking the Nokia up with OS X, and other general issues with the phone. I hope it will be helpful to OS X users looking for an uncrippled, usable Bluetooth phone on Verizon.
