Network print to HP Deskjet 970cxi via print server Network
I have found that the cheapest of all the network print server hardware boxes works the best when trying to print to HP Deskjet printers. I was originally trying to use a D-Link DP-300U with my Deskjet 970cxi, but found it wouldn't use the HP drivers for the printer. Instead, it used the Gimp drivers, and those drivers did not work well with my printer.

So I bought a dirt cheap Netgear PS101 print server and was able to install HP's own print drivers because the printer saw the PS101 as a Jetdirect Print Server. All I had to do was make sure I had uploaded the latest BIOS to the PS101, and then gave the HP install program the PS101's IP address. I'm not sure if this would work with other Deskjet models, but I would assume it should.

anyone has succesfully set a linksys psus4 print server with a hp laserjet 1010 printer? on windows, i used the host-based drivers and all works perfectly, on mac os x, i used the HP LaserJet Series CUPS v1.1 drivers with LPD or Jet Direct Socket, but it works only for documents with 1 or 2 pages, it gives error for more pages.

Wireless Network print server
Authored by: sconley on Nov 04, '05 06:12:52PM

I just bought a wireless router with a print server, the Belkin F5D7231-4P. The print server is advertised to NOT work with OS X. I previously used an Asante router that allowed printing through IPP, so I thought I would be able to do the same with this router. It didn't work the way I previously had it set-up, however it DID work when I set-up the printer through the HP Jet Direct - Socket! I don't know if an HP printer is required for this, I am using an HP952C.

So if you are looking for a wireless router with a print server, the Belkin will work with an HP printer if set-up correctly.
