10.4: A simple fix for Windows Media Player crashes Apps
Tiger only hintI frustratingly found that even after installing a brand new copy of Windows Media Player (WMP), it simply would crash on startup under Tiger.

The fix was really, really simple: Just throw away the files in your ~/Library/Preferences folder that begin with "Windows Media." If there are WMP related files in ~/Library -> Preferences -> Microsoft, then trash them, too.

WMP should work on relaunch...

This also goes for almost any application that crashes on startup. Delete the preference file - and try again. 9 times out of 10 it works.

My favorite solution to this problem is to delete Windows Media Player!

Better yet, get Flip4Mac and watch those wmv files in good old QuickTime Player.

And just how do you delete Windows Player? I'm finding it pretty hard to do, and everything I find on the internet says there's no way to do this!
