I have tried this with two unsupported Sony Ericsson phones on two different Macs running 10.3.x. You'll find it under Connectivity: Bluetooth: My Devices: New Device on your Sony Ericsson phone.

If you have a phone like the Z520i that is not supported by iSync, you can usually pair it with your Mac, but you can't enable Address Book syncing. But you may be able to get it working if you pair the phone with your Mac from the phone, and not from the Bluetooth app in OS X.

to work fine with Z520 & iSync follow this simple guide:
In MetaClasses.plist, stored in /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/ , replacing each occurance of K750 with Z520:
(the entry SEZ1010.tiff, set the icon of Z1010, similar to the Z520).
delete the phone from the Bluetooth preferences, and re-initiate a pairing from the phone. The checkbox "Set up iSync to transfer..." should be clickable.
Tested with iSync 2.1 in 10.4.2

Thank you, very very much, that did the trick for me. Finally. I tried so many times, but it finally worked after doing a reinstall of iSync and copying and pasting your new code. What a mess. Anyway, I can now sync, but I cannot send SMS messages from my Address Book like I could before with my old Sony. Any ideas why, and if there is a work around or a fix? Thanks again.

10.4.3 update give us official support for Z520 in iSync (and contain a new blue icon) but not solve the Address Book issue.

I followed this advice and was able to have my BT Motorola V560 synch pretty well by text editing the MetaClasses.plist and replacing all occurences of V550 by V560. |
